A New Calling!
We are thrilled to finally be in a ward to call our own. Since we've been married, we've never really been in the same ward for more than 3 or 4 months at a time. We knew in each ward that we wouldn't be there for very long, and so we were only ever given callings in one of those wards...as ward missionaries. We loved being able to spend time with the missionaries, but we really only had that calling for about a month before we moved. Now we are in a place that we pretty much know we will be in for at least a year, hopefully more. Yesterday at church I was so excited (yes, excited!) to get an actual visiting teaching route. I am also so excited that I was called to teach CTR 5! I have about 7 kids in my class, and they are truly a hoot! Yesterday our lesson was on Happiness Comes from Choosing the Right. I started off by telling them how getting married in the temple and having a little baby boy had brought me a lot of happiness in my life because I knew that I was doing what Heavenly Father wanted me to do. I then asked the kids (who were amazingly almost all in their seats) if they could tell me about experiences they had that made them happy. One of my girls raised her hand and proceeded to tell me a story about how she broke her arm. I thought that maybe getting her cast off made her happy. When I asked her this, she shook her head, but never really told me what made her happy. It's still a mystery! I love teaching these kids, though, and am so excited for the opportunity that we have to finally feel a part of a ward!

Teaching primary is such a great calling! CTR 5 will definitely provide you with some good laughs...sounds like it already has! 4 and 5 year olds are so fun and sweet!
ReplyDeleteThat's great, Bec. When I was 20, I taught the Sunbeams and it was one of the most awesome experiences I've ever had. Those little ones were so full of life and energy and their sweet testimonies were so inspiring. I would LOOOVE to have a calling in the Primary or YW. Right now I'm in the compassionate service committee in relief society. A little boring, but I feel good about the work I'm doing.
ReplyDeleteYour blog looks a lot better now that you have taken off that weird greeting card thing.
ReplyDeleteYou ought to check out my new blog. It's slick.
Yay! Primary is always a fun calling.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I liked your old header but I like this one too. Greeting card?? :)
you have to write down some of the things they say! Some kids told my mom once that their mom put them in a cage when they were naughty. Good thing my mom knew their mom! Primary is so fun, you will do a great job! P.S. I like the new look
