A Red Letter Night!
Last night was the first night that Renae officially slept in her own bed (the pack and play) for 5 hours straight! Hooray! She has slept with us ever since she was born, and that has been wonderful for me to be able to sleep and feed her more easily. But, I don't want her to sleep in our bed forever, and I knew the longer I delayed transitioning her to her own bed the harder it would be on her and me. The first night we tried putting her in her own bed, she and I were just sobbing from being separated that after almost an hour of hearing both of us cry, Brandon finally just told me to get the girl and bring her back to our bed. I'm sure it was both heart-breaking and annoying for him to listen to us! It has taken about 2 weeks of on and off attempts at putting her in her own bed, but last night I just let her fuss for about 30 minutes (it wasn't major fussing, either) and then she was asleep. And she slept for 5 hours! I'm hopeful that tonight will go even better. I don't care if she sleeps for 5 hours straight again, but I just hope it gets easier for her to go to sleep initially. She's always been a wonderful sleeper, so I just hope that this transitioning doesn't mess around with her sleep habits too much.

congratulations! Ezra only sleeps well in his car seat or swing. He knows how to go to sleep by himself if I put him in his bed, but he never STAYS sleep that way. Last night, for the first time, he slept 6 hours before waking up to eat again. Of course he slept those 6 hours in his car seat which was sitting in his bed. Ah well, what ever works.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I'm so glad you have been able to put the little princess in her own bed! I'm sure you will feel more rested!
