Baby Boy!!!

We found out last week that we are having a boy!!!  I kept going back and forth about whether I thought we were having a boy or a girl, so I would have had the same reaction either way...excited!  He's measuring right on schedule for Feb. 12 and weighs about 1 lb right now.  (Actually, it feels like he's gained another pound in the last week, but maybe that's just me...)  When the doctor came in to go over the ultrasound with us, he said that everything looks really good, except...  (No one likes hearing that word, right?)  Apparently our little guy has a bright spot on his heart that is a teeny tiny mineral deposit called an intracardiac echogenic focus (ICEF).  It doesn't affect his heart's function, but has been considered a slight marker for Down Syndrome.  While every mother wants her child to be completely healthy, this news doesn't really worry me.  I've worked with kids with Down Syndrome, and those were some fantastic kids!  So, we just have to be aware that there is a possibility.

Now we just have to figure out a name for this little guy!  We had a beautiful little girl's name picked out (Adelaide Grace...don't steal it...we might have another girl sometime), but we cannot agree on a name for the little man!  Luckily we still have 18 weeks and 1 day to go until my due date (not that I'm counting down because I dislike being pregnant so much...)!

Profile with a little wave.  He was very calm and cooperative during the ultrasound.

One of the 3D pictures...I love his little "smile" here.  I loved that the technician switched over to the 3D during the session...that was the first time I've had one done, and friends of mine who have been to the same office haven't had it done before, either.  It must be a very new standard procedure, but I love it!

The tech told us not to worry about the fact that he looks a little warped in the 3D pictures...he really doesn't have just two fingers.

Foot.  Fortunately this little guy hasn't been nearly as brutal to his mom as his older sister was, so I'm not feeling his foot trying to break free all the time!

One more profile.  Every time Renae sees these photos, she says, "Mommy's tummy pictures!"  Nicholas calls them pictures of "his friend."  They are both very excited to meet him!  If tomorrow weren't way too early for his body to take, I'd be ready to meet him tomorrow!
