Catching Up...

So...it's been about 6 months since I last wrote.  I really do want to do that more.  While Facebook is fun for some things, I love having a blog to record more of the real day-to-day stuff our family goes through.  The other night I was reading through some of my posts from when Nicholas was a baby, and I'm pretty impressed by how much I blogged back then!  I wonder if there's a correlation between the number of blog posts and the number of kids we have...  :)

Instead of trying to recreate on here all of our goings-on from the last 6 months, I'll just give brief updates about everyone.

Brandon
-has been working in Miami, FL since the end of May
-is still the ward scoutmaster
-has been honing his photography skills while on the road
Brandon's just hangin' with gators these days

Rebecca
-still holding down the fort in Portland, OR
-was released as relief society enrichment leader...and called to be the ward music chairman
-started an etsy shop/blog called ScrappyRoots...it's a digital scrapbooking business that helps me use my spare time more productively and is a fun creative outlet

Nicholas
-turned 7
-finished 1st grade and started 2nd
-broke his wrist while on vacation in Ohio...not a fan of those doctor's bills!
-learned to ride a bike, but is usually found with his nose in a book (right now he's reading Harry Potter!)

Renae
-turned 6
-finished kindergarten and started 1st grade
-learned to read...and also always has her nose in books and is an excellent reader
-also learned to ride a bike, but is usually found playing with her best bud, Fiona

Seth
-started Mommy School (aka homeschool preschool) with me and is a very fast learner
-is just about the tallest 3 year old around (he's in roughly the 93rd percentile), so everyone was asking me if he was about to start kindergarten
-just about everything that comes out of his mouth is a hilarious little sound bite
-has discovered Legos and especially loves the new line of Mixels

Andrew
-is now 10 1/2 months old
-started walking about a month ago and is suuuuuuuper fast
-loves to slap his belly, clap, dance, climb the stairs, and mimic sounds
-is usually the happiest baby, but boy does he have a stubborn streak, too!

Our family
-still in Beaverton, OR...and have officially been here for one year today!  We love Oregon!
-went on a mega road trip this summer from Oregon to Ohio to Tennessee to Ohio and back to Oregon, with stops in Idaho and Utah to see family
-sold our house in Ohio in June (finally!)
-are still grateful for all of our many, many blessings!

  1. I love reading your updates! Sounds busy but fun. I can't believe you have a 7 year old. Where does time fly? I'm with you... I love facebook but there is just something about a blog that I like more. Wished more people did blogs. Oh well.
