Some Much Needed Socialization

It's no secret that when Brandon is away on business that I get a little...shall we say...stir crazy.  I develop a serious case of cabin fever.  Sure I get out, but I always have at least two of my little kiddos in tow.  I've been needing, craving, a little social interaction.  And I got it!

I was invited to two baby showers this week, but sadly had to miss my friend Jill's baby shower.  I heard it was so fun because they sat around making little girl hair bows while chatting and eating some tasty treats.  What a good idea, huh?  I did make it to the second baby shower yesterday for my friend, Heather.  It was a pumpkin theme, which automatically means that everything tasted delicious!  Mostly I just loved spending a bit of time catching up with all of the ladies!

Then last night I went to a craft night hosted by a couple of my friends.  Let's just say that I got there at 7 PM...and grudgingly left at 1 AM!  I made three Halloween board decorations and a Thanksgiving garland.  We all had so much fun!  I absolutely LOVE spending time with my kids, but they sure sap the energy out of me sometimes, and it's amazing what a girls' night can do for this girl!

I made a third board a little larger than the orange one that is black with a white spider web.

Last year I made some Thanksgiving decorations with hints of blue in them, and I fell in love with the colors!  I was so excited to replicate them for this garland!

For the first time in a long while, Brandon doesn't have to fly anywhere tonight, which means we got to have people over for dinner tonight!  It just so happened that one of Brandon's "host sisters" from Australia was in town this weekend with her husband, so we had the two of them over for dinner this evening. When Brandon was a Senior in high school, he spent a year in Australia as an exchange student.  One family he lived with had three daughters, his "host sisters."  We had so much fun having Belinda and Tom over tonight!  Even though this was the first time I've ever met either of them, we all fell into conversation very easily and felt like we'd known each other for years.  I love it when that happens!

Belinda and Tom brought these gorgeous flowers with them this evening!  I wish I could explain just how intoxicatingly fragrant they are, but you'll just have to take my word for it!

  1. Becca, I'm so glad you got some girl time in. Oh I totally feel you on that. I have felt the same way. Love my boys but you said it perfectly in that they really do suck the energy right out of you. I used to look forward to doctors appointments just to have the time alone but even that has been bombarded with my two little ones in tow. Love your halloween boards. I think they are darling. Hope you get some more girl time soon.
