Where did it go?

My brain, or at least the part of it that used to help me act reasonably intelligent, has officially checked out.  This happened when I was pregnant with Nicholas, too.  The only problem now is that I have Nicholas and yet I can't seem to put a coherent sentence together, let alone keep track of my little guy.  Here's an example of my conversation with Brandon after lunch today.

Me: Did you hear about the Democratic debate last night?  Evidently things between Clinton and Obama were a little... (LONG, silent pause)

Brandon: Heated? Tense?

Me: Yeah!  Heated is a good word.  They were totally trading... (Another LONG, silent pause)
Brandon: Insults?  Accusations?

Me: Yeah!  Insults!

The whole time Brandon is trying to decipher what I'm trying to say, Nicholas got into a bit of mischief on his own.  His memory is getting pretty good, and he's caught on to the fact that Brandon keeps his guitar under the couch.  So, while my husband and I are "communicating", Brandon suddenly discovers that Nicholas is nowhere to be found.  And then we hear strumming.  The kid had wiggled under the couch somehow and was trying to push the guitar out the other end!  Despite the fact that our camera is currently in Columbus (I left it there, go figure), our phones take decent enough photos to capture the moment when Nicholas started to emerge triumphantly on the other side of the couch--only to have Brandon take the guitar and place it in its new home in the closet!

We first see the guitar...
Then we see a little hand followed by a little face...
Finally Nicholas is emerging...while still trying to play the guitar!

Oh, and I even had to edit this post 3 times because I wasn't even spelling words out completely (moment is not spelled mot)!  I need a nap!

  2. LOL Rebecca! I know how you feel. I too kept doing the ditsiest things when I was pregnant. I really just felt like the biggest idiot.

The night I found out, I was going grocery shopping for Thanksgiving (it was the next day) and I literally had to go back to the store about 4 different times to get things because I kept forgetting stuff.

I was also pretty clumsy. Hopefully I'll be clumsy and forgetful again soon! Oh, and your little Nicholas is too cute trying to be all sneaky!

  4. And "words" isn't spelled "werds."

  5. Where did I use the word "werds"?

  6. Don't let Scott bother you. He's probably just trying to use your lack of memory to pick on you more than usual! I didn't see any werds in there anywhere, don't worry.

  7. You better watch out, I lost my mind with each child - however, after Haidan, I don't think I ever got it back. I can get up from my desk at work and start walking down the hall only to realize I forgot what I was doing. At home, my older boys laugh at me because I will start to "discuss" (which roughly means chew them out) only to forget what the point was suppose to be in the end.

  10. Hmmm. . . I blame my air-headedness on being pregnant when I'm pregnant. But really, I'm just kind of an air-head. Cute pictures. I can't believe he is so curious and mobile. My baby, cute as she is, is a little slug. We're hoping that she will learn to crawl before she goes to kindergarten.

  11. Hi - Paige's mom here! I loved reading the comment you made to her about "Once There Was a Snowman"! Do you care if I send that in to Latter-day Laughs in Meridian Magazine? It would get a chuckle from lots of people! You can respond to Paige. Thanks!

  13. Becca, once the brain is gone, it never comes back ;)

It is also good to see that Nicholas is already exploring his guitar-man side. Matt enjoys strumming the guitar while I form the chords. We can play a pretty mean rendition (sorry, was that word too big for your pregnant mind???) of "I hope they call me on a mission."
