What is my name?
Rebecca/Becca/Mamamamama
How long have you and your s.o. been together?
We met on March 10, 2006, started dating a week later, got engaged 2 weeks after that, married 3 months after that...so basically we've been together almost 2 years. And we're pregnant with our second child. Strange and fast, but worked/works for us.
Who eats more?
Brandon, hands down. Especially right now since I'm experiencing morning sickness. He probably eats twice as much as I do each day right now! Every so often, though, I surprise Brandon by the amount I can eat.

Who said "I love you" first?
This is a fairly infamous story in our family. After a really great weekend together, Brandon called me on a Monday night and blurted it out. All I could say was "thanks!" Brandon thought that he was moving too fast, that he had just messed things up. (I didn't feel too bad, though, because after Brandon and I hung up the phone, I called my sister-in-law Sarah, who laughed when I told her the story because she had said the same thing to my brother Scott when he told her!) So, the next day I asked Brandon if he would meet me half-way between Columbus and Cincinnati in the town of Wilmington. I kept telling myself that I would say it back if he said it again. He didn't. But a few days later on Friday, I finally told him.
Who is taller?
Brandon, fortunately. I'm 5'9" and often felt awkward going out on dates with guys my height (or shorter!). Brandon's height is one of the first things I noticed about him. He's about 6'2".
Who sings better?
In our family it's not a question of better, since neither of us is really going to be singing in public any time soon. But, we both love singing. I sing to Nicholas all day sometimes. Brandon often catches me singing out requests to him (set the table, take out the trash, etc...I picked it up from my old roommate Paige, though I'm not sure if she does this anymore!).
Who is smarter?
Brandon...in some things. Me...in other things. Our interests vary so much, that we often defer to the other person's area of "expertise". It works for us and keeps us from becoming too competitive or stubborn with each other.
Who does the laundry?
I do. But now that our dryer is kind of temperamental and I'm still waging the war against the crickets in the basement (and therefore don't like going down there to do it), Brandon's been doing more of it for me. And I get him to help fold the laundry any time I can...I hate folding laundry!
Who does the dishes?
I do because Brandon rarely has time to do the dishes, and I'd rather him help with the laundry! We don't have a dishwasher, though, so my hands are starting to rethink this arrangement! I hate dry hands!
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?
Brandon does. I'm not sure how that happened, because it used to be the other way around. But I seem to sleep better this way!
Who pays the bills?
Brandon technically brings home the bacon, but I cook it, clean it, bathe it, etc. so I feel like I earn my keep. And I have all of our bills organized on the computer and in a file box. Brandon doesn't like to mess with what he calls "the system." He just asks that I keep him updated.
Who mows the lawn?
We just moved into a place where we actually have a lawn in December, so we haven't had a chance to mow it yet. However, I am particular about lawn-mowing, since I have had several jobs where that's all I did! Even before we got engaged, I sat him down and explained the "correct" method of lawn-mowing to him. And after we got engaged, I told him that our kids wouldn't be allowed to mow the lawn until they passed my lawn-mowing workshop. We'll see who does it this summer. I might be pregnant, but I'm not sure if I can relinquish control yet.
Who cooks dinner?
Definitely me. I cook, he eats. Though the number of actual hot meals I've made him since morning sickness hit can be counted on one hand, much to his disappointment!
Who drives when you are together?
Brandon, because there is more room for the driver than the passenger in our car, and he's so tall that he needs it. I do my fair share of vicarious driving, though, telling Brandon when to slow down mostly!
Who is more stubborn?
It's a definite toss up here. We both also have a guilt complex, so we can be stubborn, and then overly apologetic about causing contention!
Who is the first to admit when they're wrong?
Again, it's a toss up. But I'd say we're both pretty good at quickly admitting when we're wrong.
Whose parents do you see the most?
We're blessed to be within an hour and a half of both families, so it's not a competition. Sometimes we see mine more since they live closer, but they also travel around a lot for work and other responsibilities. Sometimes we see Brandon's family more because we try to be there for family events, which happen often because of how many are in his family. Bottom line is that we love both families and do whatever we can to be a part of their lives.
Who proposed?
Brandon...in his parents' bedroom. It was sweet, though. He was getting all misty-eyed while I was just impatient for him to get to the actual question. I said, "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Who is more sensitive?
Brandon. He's always been the sweet, sentimental one who has been known to surprise me with flowers and doing dishes. He also takes what others say to heart more than I do. It really takes a lot to upset me. Unless I'm pregnant. Then a lot of things can make me break out into tears. Like Nicholas spilling hot cocoa on Brandon's newsletter. It really wasn't a big deal and Brandon was handling it, but I broke out into uncontrollable sobs.
Who has more friends?
According to Facebook, Brandon. We both cherish our friendships tremendously, though. I am so grateful for technology, which has helped me stay in touch with my friends better.
Who has more siblings?
Brandon. He's the second oldest of ten kids. I'm the middle child (3rd) of five kids. I'm the bubble wrap. Brandon's the example.
Who wears the pants in the family?
Brandon does, but he knows I have definite opinions about how he should wear them.
Okay, so now I tag...
Anyone who feels the need to do this. It was pretty fun!
Cute... I enjoyed reading all of your answers!
ReplyDeleteThat was fun. I am glad I got to read more about you guys. I do have to admit Becca you are pretty sensitive. I do remember having to explain to our visiting teachee that you were in tears because we have just watched the finale of the Bachelor. Anywho... funny memory!! Love ya!!
