Starting with the youngest, our little Renae is just growing SO much! We took her to the doctor last week for her 4 month shots. Her height and weight both put her in the 90th percentile! At least she's proportional, right?! She keeps trying to pull her knees up underneath her to crawl, but mainly gets around by rolling around and pushing herself forward using her toes like a little inch worm! She also just started eating rice cereal and LOVES it!
Nicholas continues to talk more and more. We love it! We were having a picnic in the living room so that we could watch Pres. Obama's Inauguration last week. After he was sworn in, and everyone started cheering, Nicholas made his hands into fists and started cheering him on by saying, "Go! Go! Gooooo!" It was funny! He also brings me his sippy cups and snack dishes when he's done with them and tells me that they are "Gone!" I then tell him to go put them in the sink, and since he recently had a bit of a growth spurt, he can now reach the sink to put them in!
Nicholas is also such a good brother to Renae. At church this past Sunday, Brandon had to be in Columbus, so I was with both kids by myself. We were sitting behind a family in our ward who has a 5 year old boy named Zachary who just loves Nicholas. I didn't realize he was observing Nicholas talking to and giving Renae kisses, but then Zachary caught my attention and told me, "I just love Nicholas because he is so sweet to his sister." It was adorable! While I was trying to make dinner yesterday, Renae was rolling around in the living room just wailing. Nicholas scooted over close to her, and without taking his eyes off Finding Nemo, his hands started moving over Renae's face until he found her mouth, which he then stuck in fingers in for her to suck on, I guess! It calmed her right down! I could help but giggle when I watched him do this! Even after she stopped sucking on his fingers, he still sat right next to her patting her belly to keep her calm. I love my cute kids!
Since we're going youngest to oldest here, I guess it's Brandon's turn now! He just finished up five days of active duty up at Rickenbacker. It was tough because both of us needed our car and the computer at the same time, so we did a lot of driving between here and Columbus to swap out the car and computer, leaving us all exhausted by the time he came home to stay. He continues to love his job at the train yard and is enjoying being supervisor there. They are in the process of hiring him an assistant, which will be great so that he won't be so swamped trying to do everything! He's also enjoying his classes so far this quarter. He was up until about 2 or 3 this morning working on a paper, only to wake up here momentarily to go to work (it's 6:15 AM right now). I know it can be hard on him to spend such long hours at work only to go to school when he's done there, but somehow he also manages to make being home a top priority. I happen to think he's an amazing husband and father, and I just appreciate how hard he works to take care of us!
I just continue to stay busy keeping up with all of these guys! I also just started babysitting a girl who is two or three months younger than Nicholas. She and Nicholas entertain each other really well throughout the day, leaving me free to keep our home in decent shape. I've also managed to continue to work on my various hobbies and adopt a few new ones. Lately I've been on a bow-making kick now that I have a little girl who will one day be able to wear hair bows. I love reading so many different crafty blogs because I get so many new ideas for things I want to make.
I think that's it for us! I guess this turned out longer than I thought it would, but oh well. Just know that our busy little family is doing well and loving each moment we get to spend together!
Renae and Nicholas are so cute together! I love it!
