I think my kids are trying to give me a heart attack...

Every day brings something new for me to worry about around here. I've decided that the word "Nicholas" can be both a noun and a verb. "Pulling a Nicholas" or "Nicholasing around" generally mean the same thing and that thing is usually on my list of things the kids are not allowed to do, like cutting Renae's fingertip with a pair of scissors that I could have sworn I put away.

My sweet, innocent little Renae used to be such a mellow, tender girl. Then at about 9 months, she discovered her vocal chords and uses them well. So, when she isn't screaming or being loud, I need to worry. For example, it could mean that she is climbing up on the dining room chairs and is trying to get on the actual table (true story). Or it could mean that she is screaming so hard that she isn't breathing and is likely to pass out momentarily (another true story). Last month she passed out once, but hadn't been able to breathe long enough that it triggered a seizure. (This is where the trying to give me a heart attack comes in.) I've never been more scared as a mom than I was watching Nae Nae shake in Brandon's arms. She was completely okay within a few minutes, but her pediatrician now wants us to take Renae down to Children's Hospital to see a neurologist. We have an appointment set for Sept. 25th...the soonest we could be seen. Until then, if she has another seizure, we're to take her straight to the emergency room. She's still has these breath holding spells several times a day, but really only passes out about once a week. Let's just hope nothing else happens until then!
