After some friends of mine told me that Vevay, IN was listed as the 4th Coolest Small Town in America (or something like that), I've been wanting to go. A few weeks ago, I finally talked Brandon into going.
The drive there was absolutely beautiful as we traveled along the Ohio River and through the beautiful hills in Indiana. The fact that the kids slept so well was especially beautiful...
We stopped along the way at the Markland Dam and Locks. We'd never seen operating locks in before, so we thought it'd be fun to stop.
I have issues with heights sometimes, so Renae and I stayed down and hung out with an Amish guy while Brandon and Nicholas went up to the observation deck to check out the locks in action.
This gentleman's family was up observing the locks as well, but he couldn't take the stairs because of his poor knees. He was nice enough to me, but kept referring to Renae as "It" and kept spitting by my feet, so I just chalked it up to cultural differences and enjoyed the experience!
I love this picture of the two of them!
Vevay, as it turned out, wasn't that exciting. I can think of several small towns that I'd consider cooler than Vevay, but we did find a park for the kids to play.
Yay for updates!! I read all your posts! Looks like you guys have been doing lots of fun things. And another happy birthday to Renae! She's so sweet. I can't wait to meet her! Miss you, Becca!
