Andrew is 1!

Our sweet Andrew boy turned 1 on November 14th!  I was so worried I'd miss his birthday because I was returning to Portland from my trip back east on the 13th, and wintry weather was forecasted.  Note: Portland completely shuts down when it snows even a little.  We managed to land, but the train ride in to Beaverton took almost two hours...on a VERY crowded MAX train...while incredibly sick.  It was less than ideal, but I was so glad to be home safe and sound with my family.

Since I was still feeling incredibly sick, we kept his birthday a little low-key, but it was perfect for our little guy.  We did cake and presents, but nothing extravagant.  It was just so great to spend the day playing and being with Andrew.

However, if I were to say we had a theme for Andrew's birthday, it would be "Messy."  That kid is a tornado.  The thing about renting is that you can't always just install things like child locks on drawers and cabinets.  Our kitchen is always a wreck, the bookshelf always in disarray, and the dog's food is always spilled across the floor.  But he does it all with a smile on his face!  We thought a "Mess By Chocolate" cake would be appropriate for this cutie.

While Andrew's first year video (my favorite first birthday tradition!) wasn't ready in time for his actual birthday, we enjoyed watching it a few days later.  Boy do I love that kid!

Andrew, we love so many things about you!  Your smile absolutely lights up our house.  We love your adventurous ways...even if I don't always appreciate you climbing on top of the kitchen table.  :)  Your sweet kisses and infectious laugh bring joy into our lives, and the way your eyes light up when you see me just melts my heart.  I can't imagine our family without you!  We love you!
