I Hate Mondays
I haven't really had a truly horrible Monday in a long time, but this time it's fairly horrible. For starters, I may have mentioned that I only have about a month and a half left in my pregnancy, but have also been having some miserable back pain. With Brandon having been out of town for the last week, I haven't been able to sleep. He got back yesterday, so I figured I'd be able to get a good night's sleep. Wrong. I can't get comfortable to save my life! Last night was lots of tossing a turning for me. Nicholas couldn't sleep last night either, so I had to deal with him crying. (He hasn't done that in a while, so I was kind of perplexed as to the cause behind it all.) Brandon slept like a baby. Grrr (I won't resent my husband...I won't resent my husband...). This morning we were all up at 5:15, so I decided to finish up laundry from Saturday and finish cleaning up in the kitchen. No big deal. Nicholas then started getting cranky at around 7:00, and by 7:30 I had put him back down for a nap. Not a peep out of him, either! I was thinking this would be a great time to get a nap in myself. Not only could I not get comfortable, but I was literally in pain from laying down! So, I decided to update our finances, which I'm fairly obsessive about and do a couple of times a week. So, I logged on to our checking account to find that Brandon's most recent paycheck never made it into the account, despite being transferred to it last Friday. I went into panic mode and started back tracking to figure out what had happened. Well, Brandon's new job is kind of strange in the way they do payroll. Until they get direct deposit set up with our actual bank, they direct deposit the paychecks onto a debit card. You can then get online and transfer funds from that debit card to your bank account. It's a pain in the butt. So, last Friday I did this, but I entered our bank account info incorrectly, switching two digits in the account number. I have never done this before! I'm always on top of these things! I then called our bank to try to get things sorted out, and fortunately found out that this money was not deposited into someone else's account, but that it had most likely been rejected from our bank and "returned to sender." The person who helped me on the phone, unfortunately, did not know if it was returned to the stupid debit card or to our employer who put the money there in the first place! So, we have a substantial amount of money floating around out there that we can't locate (Brandon worked 60+ hours last week...that's a lot of overtime). I would like to take a minute to stress the importance of having enough of a financial reserve to prevent episodes such as this one from being disastrous! That's the only reason why I'm not completely insane right now! On top of all of this, while I was on the phone with the bank, there was a tremendous crash in our basement. I just checked it out and a stack of boxes with items in it such as some of my blue and white pottery, some frames, and other breakable items collapsed and have left a scattered mess on our basement floor. (I think it was probably the freaky crickets that caused this, so I'm letting Brandon investigate further when he gets home from work.) And for the cherry on top of this all, Nicholas dropped my new toothbrush down the vent. I can see it, but can't lift the vent, and don't really care to have it back after where it's been. Sigh. It's only 9:00.

Sorry your Monday has started out so crummy. I hope it gets better :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like not a very fun time!
ReplyDeleteBec!! I'm so sorry you're having such a bad day! Things will get better I promise. I'm glad it's not the end of the world with Brandon's check though. It looks like it's not a big deal. Have a better day, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a not so fun way to start your week! It's hard to get much rest when you're so uncomfortable. Sounds like you need a day at the spa or a good massage (hint, hint Brandon). :) I laughed out loud at the freaky crickets part! Hopefully the next few days will be better for you.
ReplyDeleteMan, I think you are handling everything very well! If I was having a Monday like that, pregnant, etc., I would probably be going crazy. So you are doing great! Good luck with the money thing though!
