So, waa-aaa-ay back on June 30th, Brandon and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. Go us! 5 years and 3 kids later, we are still very much in love. Life is so great when you get to spend it with your best friend. Since Brandon had just returned from his deployment, we decided to spend our anniversary with our kids. Brandon had done his research while deployed and made some fun arrangements for us.
The hike took us right along this creek. I grew up right next to an area just like this where we'd go hiking all summer long as kids. I loved it!
First up, we went to the Yellow Springs Nature Preserve for a family hike. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. It was nice and cool back in the woods. I love a good hike! This one wasn't too intense, which was great for the kids, too.
There was this huge rock overhang, which seemed pretty perfect for a snapshot of these two.
I love Seth's expression here. It's pretty perfect.
Renae's face says it all. Actually it doesn't because we had a lot more fun than she seems to portray, but it is a fun expression. |
Up next, we went to Horsefeathers Farm in Clarksville, Ohio. This retired couple decided to invest in a few animals, including wallabies. Yes, wallabies. As in mini kangaroos. They also have an emu, lizards, chicks, miniature horses, mules, swans, etc. This "animal encounter" experience couldn't have been more perfect. For $30, our family got to spend an hour (which ended up being almost 2!) interacting with the animals, going on a wagon ride (a caterpillar ride for the kids), and searching for fossils in the creek
Nicholas checking out the chicks. We were told that they never really get too attached to the chicks because they'd be Kentucky-fried in a few weeks.
Bearded lizard
Probably the only time you'll ever see me petting a deer. And that's only because this one was a mini.
Even Seth pet the mama wallaby!
The kids couldn't have had a better time!
I liked the wallabies, but I LOVED this emu! It was pretty cool.
Feeding the fish.
They made this caterpillar using pickle barrels. It was genius and so much fun for the kids!
looks like so much fun Becca.
